More likely a measure of performing talent which she obviously has in spades. both dependent on her art being so accessible to the average person, who are rarely great gauges for truly great art.
While an incredible talent, Beyonce is too representative of the average sensibilities to have a greatest of all time anything outside of greatest selling or greatest overall career. The point of my meandering comment is that 1. Even if the artist visualizes the song in a certain way it has little bearing on how a song expresses itself visually to each individual. and music is the most subjective art form already. But whereas a film is a self contained work of art a music video is another person's visual imprint for a given song. but at least in my subjective opinion they're a sometimes entertaining footnote in artform.Īlso feels less like the musician's sole expression than an amalgamation of timing, budget, cultural temperment, fan base, filming crew, etc. They're art of course, just like animated shorts. Album=Best Picture, Music Video=Best Animated Short. It's such a minor aspect of the art form in my conceptualization of someone's work. Personally, I've been lukewarm on Kanye forever, but he did inspire the man whl created Acid Rap which is easy contentipn for my personal greatest rap album or just album lf tbe century so far. Certainly a middle of the road incredible talent. Kanye has a far better chance than Beyonce of being creative enough to create the best video/song/album of an era, you can't be that normal and be a GOAT artist. Greatest of all time without context would have to do something to evolve the form. And Beyonce's music and videos, that and the rest, are not interesting or novel enough to be greatest anything of all time.Ībsolutely talented, but just a paint within the lines type that can only be justified as greatest to people with a cursory aptitude for conceptualizing art.
